Apples Of My EyesAll the things that make me happy

Rock-Paper-Scissors

Rock – My friends went to Arcadia National Park in Maine last week and brought back to me a bag full of nice, smooth and flat rocks. I immediately grabbed one to draw a peacock design on it. Consider it an “itch scratched” Paper – Finally, I had enough creativity in me to start working [...]

New Toys

I’ve been thinking… and probably the most valuable piece of worldly wisdom I have to pass on to my girls (as of right now, at least) is my utter conviction that I can make pretty much everything out of anything. Case in point. We went to a graduation party last weekend, so I sat down [...]

Finished Incarceron & More…

Well, here it is. I finished it, printed it out and am very happy with the results. This illustration is very “me” while allowing a peek at some of Incarceron’s hidden treasures: And while I was drawing, this Bubbly Personality just showed up on a smooth river rock that was laying around. How could I [...]

New Love

People, I’m in love. My new beloved is smooth and shiny, it’s strong but very flexible. It’s called Speedball white calligraphy ink! It goes on my smooth rocks beautifully!!! I dug out a quill that I got when I was in… high school (don’t ask how long ago was that…) and thoroughly enjoy using it!

It turns out I’ve been more productive with this blog, than even I myself anticipated. The WordPress counter tells me that this is a post #50, so what’s a better way to celebrate than with a good old giveaway?! And I have just the right stuff to give! I have an interesting pair of things [...]

Four Seasons

I am always strongly inspired by the change of weather… Fall is definitely one of the most dramatic seasons around here. Bright, bold colors, crisp cool air and smell of leaves is almost euphoric So, of course, year after year, as soon as the leaves start to change, I begin drawing them on every surface [...]

I spy… a Resurrection Fern

You know those awesome I SPY books with the colorful photos of tiny objects? Love them. This talented artist’s work reminds me of those books and also of Geninne’s rocks. So, lots of little goodies, rocks and ferns… What’s not to like? Margie, aka knitalatte aka Resurrection Fern is covering sea stones with delicate crocheted [...]

Venturing into Volturi Territory

If you’ve seen my Twilight themed rocks, you pretty much know about my fascination with amber/gold/liquid topaz/you name it eyes of the “vegetarian” vampires from Stephenie Meyer’s saga. They’re just so pretty… But, there’s another type of eyes in there as well… The “normal” vampire’s irises are bright “bloody” red and yesterday I finally brought [...]

Doodle, you Rock! Or is it Rock, you Doodle?…

I have a thing for rocks… I’m a bit too young (and grew up in another country all together) to remember the infamous Pet Rocks, but I bet, if it was in “my day and age”, I’d be a proud owner of more than one of those. I like finding cool, interesting rocks, I like [...]

Leap of Faith

I’ve always been curios about what exactly jump-starts the creative process in our minds… For me it can be a number of things. Lots of times, music inspires me, puts me in the right state of mind. Books are great for that too, although not all of them work this way. Movies & TV are [...]
