Long Live the Queen

No, not that queen. The Queen! Even though it’s long gone, every time I catch a hint of the familiar melody, I get goosebumps. Back in high school, I was so taken with uplifting lyrics and haunting images of the videos, that I even sort of “illustrated” a few songs with quill and black India ink

Rock-Paper-Scissors

Rock – My friends went to Arcadia National Park in Maine last week and brought back to me a bag full of nice, smooth and flat rocks. I immediately grabbed one to draw a peacock design on it. Consider it an “itch scratched”

Paper – Finally, I had enough creativity in me to start working on some completely new projects. For example, I made some decent drawings that will eventually become Twilight-themed stickers/labels for one of my favorite Etsy customers/sellers, tweetynsylvester6, who is currently making candles out of recycled jars.

Scissors will have to wait for the picture, but I did make a very pretty cut-out wedding frame mat and decorated it with tiny silver doodles. That was another project that I had on hold for a while.

Ok, I have a few things to report:

3. I have been very very busy this past weekend, and made a lot of pretty things. I also made some more paper beads (like the ones I had last summer) AND I finally got around to making some paper jewelry (I’ll show more when I’ll get a chance to take good pictures).

This is Bel Ami aka Dear Friend, in Russian translation, which was the only one I had readily available when I was in between books . I read it before, but couldn’t remember details or much of the plot, frankly. What can I say? Not much… Young, ambitious, and dirt poor, George weaves his net, like a spider, around Paris, catching in it influential women and using them as stepping stones in enhancing his career and social status. When I read it in high school, I thought it was sexy, but now it felt kinda sad, for the most part.

Good Kind of Busy

I’ve been totally neglecting my blog here, but for all the good reasons. I’ve been crazy-busy, and actually in a good way.
Right after being featured on the Etsy Front Page, I discovered that my White Lace Doodled Rock Duo was featured in one of Etsy’s emails, and subsequently – The Storque blog post. Whoo-hoo!!!

That brought in a ton of visitors, some with orders and others with original requests, and I’m still sifting through some “debris” from that tsunami.
I also got a year older yesterday, but still don’t feel a day over 19, just a bit more responsible
So, have a slice a virtual cake with me and keep checking back, eventually I’ll get back into my blogging routine, pinky-swear!

New Love

People, I’m in love. My new beloved is smooth and shiny, it’s strong but very flexible. It’s called Speedball white calligraphy ink! It goes on my smooth rocks beautifully!!! I dug out a quill that I got when I was in… high school (don’t ask how long ago was that…) and thoroughly enjoy using it!
