New Moon
Allright, just let me get it out of my system
Hi, my name is RaShell, and I’m a twi-addict, so naturally, I went and saw the New Moon, the movie. Granted, the degree of my addiction allowed me to wait until noon of the 3rd day it was out instead of fighting scores of dressed up to the nines women on the opening night… Yes, Twilight (although certainly not a secret both in my real and online life) is a private thing for me and I wasn’t about to sit in the theater full of similarly ..hm… obsession and hear their exaggerated reactions to the onscreen action. Ok, mostly I was terrified of shrill squeals from the younger members of Team Tyler (considering possibility of numerous shirtless moments involving the pup).
So, long story short. I liked it. It was gentle, easy on the eyes, sad, romantic, very close to the book. What else can you ask for?

The GOOD:
Loved the change in color of the whole movie. The green tint of Twilight was a bit too depressing for me. But at the same time, it seemed like most of the time the screen was way too dark. Like you literally had to strain your eyes to see! I understand the idea, but I think they went a bit too far with that one.
The mood of the movie was very somber, appropriately so, but there were also quite a few more lighthearted moments, with clever and funny remarks. Charlie, as in the first movie, stole quite a few scenes.
Jacob, Jacob… I think I already told everybody who’d listen/read, that seeing the new and improved Jacob (NOT because of his glorious abs, btw) made me rethink my attitude towards his character. He really managed to bring across this genuinely good easy going kid, smitten with Bella but trying desperately not to push her too hard and waiting patiently. Very sweet.
The way Chris Weitz handled the “empty pages” after Edward’s departure was pure genius, I think. World, sort of revolving around seemingly unmoving Bella staring out of her window… mmm, simple, heartbreaking and smart.
Volturi action was super cool. Great acting, creepy looks and awesome fighting scenes, should I say more?
Even the wolf CGI was pretty impressive. I was so afraid that the doggies will come out cartoon-ish and silly looking, but thankfully they looked great, scary, intimidating and beautiful at the same time.
This one is both good and bad. There was A LOT of swooping and circling camera movements and TONS of closeups. Which literally made me dizzy quite a few times. Sometimes it was justified, sometimes I thought they could certainly do without.

The BAD:
Well, as any passionate fan, of course I have a few bones to pick with people who were in charge of bringing our beloved pages to life.
First of all, AGAIN, what’s with the makeup?!!! Seriously, the scene where exhausted, thirsty and depressed Edward is walking to the Volturi lair, without the g-d forsaken red lipstick were the most “natural” he looked in the whole movie!!! He is such a beautiful boy, why, oh why, couldn’t they go easy on the cakey makeup and the lips? It makes him look like a caricature of himself and that’s just not right… The other Cullens too… How can anybody make such gorgeous young people like Nicky, Ashley and Jackson look so disturbingly unattractive is beyond me… Grrr…
Don’t even get me started on Alice’s wardrobe…
For some reason I didn’t like the vision of freshly “converted” Bella and Edward running in the woods. They did not look graceful, they were wearing something very strange and the whole thing made me cringe…
Biker dudes didn’t look scary at all.
Oh, and there was not enough kissing at the end. Kidding ![]()

The BOTTOM LINE:
All in all, as I said, NM exceeded my expectations. After indulging in my latest guilty pleasure of Twi Fanfiction, it was SO refreshingly nice to see “real” innocent and romantic Bella and Edward!!! It was almost like meeting old friends whom you’ve missed without even realizing how much.
So, spill, did you see it? What did you think? What are your faves and complaints? C’mon, let’s talk about it, and then I’ll let you rest from this craziness for a while
